Grand Final Weekend
What a weekend......the Club won 7 out of the 10 Grand Finals we contested
over the weekend. A new Club record!!!
Congratulations to 8C (undefeated Premiers), 10B1 (undefeated Premiers),
11B, 13A (undefeated Premiers), 15B, 17's and 19's.
Commiserations to the 14A, 16A and 16B all of whom went down fighting.
Significantly, the 10B1 won the Charles Bate Trophy, the first time the
Club has ever won this Trophy. We also managed to win the William Purcell
Trophy in the U/17's, named after a longstanding Life Member of our Club,
Bill Purcell. Unfortunately Bill passed away last Thursday evening.
Vale Bill Purcell
Bill was a tireless supporter of the Club and one of the men who was
instrumental in realising the dream of a 1st Grade team for the Shire,
creating the Cronulla Sutherland Sharks in 1967.
Our deepest Sympathies go to his widow Isobel (also a Life Member) close
brother Reg and children Bill, John, Greg and James, all of whom played at
the Club.
Bill Purcell R.I.P.

The boy's of the under 13A's side who are defending premiers from last
season and currently on top of the ladder this season, rallied up local
businesses and private endorsements to raise these funds. The AMP
society offered to match dollar for dollar up to $10,000.00 the money
that the player's collected.
All the proceeds were for the Children's Starlight Foundation to help
send a terminally ill child on a wish trip.
Boxing supporter's sponsorship included the World Boxing Foundation and
The Fist Magazine.
A throng of Media attended to cover this event, Including the Channel 9
Rugby League Footy Show (With Lady Luck), Local news Paper The St George
& Sutherland Shire Leader and Nova 96.9 FM Radio station.
Congratulations to the 13A players on a job well done and reaching a
total of 1020 successful goals over a six hour slog. Kids raising money
for sick kids!!
It doesn't get much better than this for effort!!!

Inverell
Rugby League Trip 2006
This year 14 eager kids and 11 adults made the long journey to Inverell.
The long trip was made more enjoyable firstly by the kids excellent
behaviour and secondly by our Driver Initiate, Phil who hit it off great
with everyone. On arrival, we were welcomed at the Aussie Hotel and the
Kids met their billets. As the majority of the boys were from the 12’s,
many had met their billets previously. After the kids were whisked off
to an early night (yeah right), the adults enjoyed the hospitality of
the locals at the Aussie.
